Biographies

Lee Isaac Chung . producer, director, writer
Lee Isaac Chung grew up on a small farm in rural Arkansas and then attended Yale University to study Biology. At Yale, with exposure to art cinema in his senior year, he dropped his plans for medical school and pursued filmmaking. His first feature, “Munyurangabo” premiered at Cannes 2007, Un Certain Regard. He resides in New York with his wife Valerie and manages Almond Tree Films, a production company he founded with his collaborators, Samuel Anderson and Jenny Lund.

Samuel Gray Anderson . producer, writer
Samuel Gray Anderson was born in 1981 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He studied English Literature at Yale University and is now based in New York City. He co-wrote and co-produced Munyurangabo. In addition to co-writing and producing Lucky Life, he is currently writing and developing a number of future Almond Tree projects.

Richard Lormand . producer, publicity
Richard Lormand was recently part of the producing teams of Mitchell Lichtenstein’s TEETH (Sundance 07, Berlin 07, Deauville 07) and Amos Gitai’s DISENGAGEMENT (Venice 07, Toronto 07), starring Academy Award-winning actress Juliette Binoche. Richard has been working in international public relations for the past 12 years, specializing in launches at the Berlin, Cannes and Venice festivals. He has handled world premieres for numerous award-winning films, including Jia Zhangke’s STILL LIFE, Fatih Akin’s THE EDGE OF HEAVEN, Hou Hsiao Hsien’s THE FLIGHT OF THE RED BALLOON, Sam Garbarski’s IRINA PALM, Eytan Fox’s THE BUBBLE and WALK ON WATER, Michael Haneke’s HIDDEN/CACHÉ, Christian Carion’s MERRY CHRISTMAS/JOYEUX NOEL, Kore-eda Hirokazu’s NOBODY KNOWS, Takeshi Kitano's ZATOICHI, Wolfgang Becker's GOOD BYE LENIN, Francois Ozon's 8 FEMMES and Alexander Sokurov's RUSSIAN ARK.

Born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Richard began his career as a journalist for Reuters, then went on to work for the Cannes Film Festival (France), Taormina Film Festival (Italy), Torino Film Festival (Italy) and the Viennale/Vienna Film Festival (Austria). Richard also wrote and directed the 1994 award-winning short TI-BOY'S WIFE/LA FEMME DE TI-BOY (Clermont-Ferrand, Locarno, Torino).
